“CAMP DESCRIPTIONS – SUMMER 2019”

“CANVAS KIDS” (6 & up)
Young artists will have a blast painting animals, still lifes and landscapes using a step-by-step method. Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to paint on large and small canvases. Instructors will cover basic color theory and fun techniques that can be used to produce magnificent paintings every time. Your little artist will produce at least one large painting and one mini canvas with easel as well as various sizes in between.

“CREATIVE CARTOONING” (6 and up)
Ready to have some fun learning about the tricks of famous cartoonists? Kids will be guided through the steps to produce a variety of cartoon drawings. Be ready to brainstorm as we create our own original characters. Students will produce a 3-panel comic strip and learn to do word bubbles, inking and other elements of interest. Participants will also enjoy making various hand-made animation devices such as flip books and an animation wheel. They will learn about optical illusions and how cartoon movies work.

“DRAWING TECHNIQUES” (8 & up) _
Learn tips and techniques from an artist and draw like a pro!  First learn to see, and then learn to draw.  Students have fun warming up with a variety of challenging exercises designed to help them identify value, proportions and composition.  They will draw from life and work with other resource materials.  Students will create compositions with impact using weight of line, observation, value and tone.

“NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM ART STUDIO” (6 & up)
Enter our Art Studio where you will be inspired by the movie “Night At The Museum”.  The fun begins as we laugh and remember the movie that was rich with fun-loving characters such as Dexter the monkey, Rexy the T-Rex and many more.  Students have the opportunity to produce their favorite characters as well as Egyptian treasures, tiny armies of Romans & cowboys or fire hungry cavemen.  All brought to life through the students art while using chalk pastels, watercolors, acrylics on canvas and cartoon drawing.
This will definitely be a camp to remember!!

“PAINTED PETS” (6 & up)
Has your child ever wondered what their pet does all day when left alone? We will brainstorm various scenarios as young artist create art inspired by our furry, finned and feathered friends. Don’t have a pet? No worries! We’ll have fun depicting creatures as small as a mouse, as big as a dinosaur or anything in between. Students will create works of art using watercolor, acrylic and pastel in this fun class that will fine tune artistic skills in every artist! A supply fee of $20 is payable to Art Starz on the first day of class. All supplies are of professional quality.

“WATERCOLOR WONDERS” (6 & up) _
Learn a wet-into-wet painting method, dropping “jewels” and other techniques from

a professional painter.  Kids have fun practicing and experimenting
with different color combinations as well as different types of watercolor media.
They will produce small postcard sized paintings as well as large paintings
that will be suitable for framing.
