“CRITTERS ON CANVAS” (6 & up)
Young artists will have a blast painting their favorite animals, using a step-by-step method.  Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to paint on large and small canvases.  Art Starz instructors will provide young artists with a rainbow of colors and provide fun techniques that can be used to produce magnificent paintings every time.  Your little artist will produce at least one large painting and one mini canvas with easel as well as various sizes in between.

“CREATIVE CARTOONING” (6 and up)
Ready to have some fun learning about the tricks of famous cartoonists? Kids will be guided through the steps to produce a variety of cartoon drawings. Be ready to brainstorm as we create our own original characters. Students will produce a 3-panel comic strip and learn to do word bubbles, inking and other elements of interest. Participants will also enjoy making various hand-made animation devices such as flip books and an animation wheel. They will learn about optical illusions and how cartoon movies work.

“VIDEO GAMES & CARTOON DRAWING” (6 & up)
Calling all cartoonists! Is your child into Minecraft, Fortnite, Star Wars or Pokemon? Video games, popular movies and cartoons will be our inspiration for cartoon drawing.  Young artists will learn tip sand tricks, develop drawing skills and practice creative thinking as they are guided through directed drawings of famous characters.  They will produce multiple drawings that they can add to their portfolio.  There will also be time for learning how to draw a 3-panel cartoon, make  flip book and other activities.

“DRAWING TECHNIQUES” (8 & up) _
Learn tips and techniques from an artist and draw like a pro!  First learn to see, and then learn to draw.  Students have fun warming up with a variety of challenging exercises designed to help them identify value, proportions and composition.  They will draw from life and work with other resource materials.  Students will create compositions with impact using weight of line, observation, value and tone.

“SHIPWRECKED ON ARTIST ISLAND” (6 & up) _
From swashbuckling pirates to mermaids and treasure maps to castaway critters, Art Starz presents a week of art explorations based on an array of island adventures.  Canvas painting, cartoon drawing, watercolor and chalk pastels are just some of the activities that will have students discovering their inner artist.  All artists are welcome to join the crew among stranded castaways here on “Artist Island!”
